It’s summer and that means kids go away to sports camps. Although they’re young, chances are they’re at more of a risk to foot and ankle injuries. Summer sports camps get very intense and competitive, which is the main reason why you might see an increase in injuries to feet and ankles.
The most common injuries are:
- Rolled ankles resulting in ligament damage;
- Dislocated toes from collisions;
- Blisters from new footwear; and
- Tendonitis from new footwear.
I can’t tell you how many ankle injuries I suffered from ages 12-18 during soccer camps – more even in high school since I was trying to get my skills to the next level prior to pre-season. The best decision I made was to have a podiatrist’s contact information on-hand in case I needed advice in handling an injury.
Just to be safe, make sure you keep Roxbury Foot and Ankle Center’s contact information on-hand. They are the best Morris County, NJ Podiatrists I know!
