It’s has been 2 ½ months since I had surgery for my arthritic bunion. I started wearing loose sneakers around week 5 but continued taking anti-inflammatory medications for pain and swelling. I can wear all my shoes now but am not pain-free. When I have time I go to Roxbury Physical Therapy for treatments, my foot feels better and my joint motion improves, unfortunately, my schedule has been so busy I only get there once a week. I have to admit my first 2 sessions (in the same week) were fairly painful but in a few days I was able to put dress shoes on. I can’t thank Gamal enough for pushing me to get my toe moving.
Last week I did a 4 mile hike. Too bad I can’t wear hiking shoes all the time. They are similar to wearing a cast. I had no pain during my mini adventure. In the office I have been alternating between dress shoes and sneakers. I hope to be pain free by June 1st so I can go river fishing and kayaking.
